2017 Autumn Class Schedule

Bavarian Crochet

Thursday October 5th, 10am – 12pm

Bavarian crochet is an intermediate level technique that creates a thick, textured patch of yarn. It's traditionally worked in rounds, but you can also work Bavarian crochet in rows. We will be working in the round creating a square sample. Your finished sample can be used as pillow front. Or, you can keep going on your square to complete a blanket. Bring to class: 4 or 5 coordinating solid colours of worsted weight yarn. Prepackaged kits may be purchased in the studio for $25. Cost: $30

Creating T-shirt Yarn

Wednesday October 11th, 6pm-8pm

Instead of hoarding all those t-shirts stored in your closest, why not turn them into yarn? Learn just how easy it is to create your own ball of yarn from your t-shirts. You will never look at those old t-shirts the same again! What will you do with all that yarn? We will discuss the various ideas for using t-shirt yarn, and look at some patterns that you can begin trying right away!  Cost: $20 Bring a plain (no logos) t-shirt with you to class. A men’s large t-shirt works the best.

Creative Recycled Buttons

Wednesday October 25th, 6pm-9pm

Not sure what to do with all those buttons that you have stashed away, or in old mason jars? Why, you can turn those buttons into jewelry or works of art. The basic crochet technique will be demonstrated and project ideas shared in this class. We will also compare the different effects achieved by using various fibres. These fibres and some buttons will be provided. Bring to class: various sizes of 4-hole buttons of your choice, 2.5mm crochet hook Cost: $25

Knitted Knockers of Canada

Three hours – Wednesday November 1st & November 18th

These two social nights have been set aside for coin us for some charity knitting especially for women. We have chosen to work on some ‘knitted knockers’. You can bring your own yarn or purchase some from the studio. Patterns for knit or crochet will be provided. If you are not sure what these things are, then this workshop is for you!! *FREE*

Knit Maple Leaf Reading Socks

Four-hour workshop October 26th, November 9th, 10am-12pm

Celebrate Canada in style by knitting up a pair of these patriotic reading socks in luxurious alpaca, llama and sheep's wool. This is an intermediate skill level. The techniques used are picking up stitches, knitting in the round, decreasing, grafting, short rows, duplicate stitch. Bring to class 5.50mm double point knitting needles, or try the new NEKO curved double points.  Cost: $65 includes yarn & pattern to complete socks

Christmas Ornament Needle Felting

Monday October 16th, 6pm-8pm; Wednesday November 8th, 6pm-8pm

Join us for a lesson on needle felting by Sue Thomas. During the class, you will work on one ornament from a needle felting kit. Sue will demonstrate the various techniques required and answer any questions you may have. Choices include: Gingerbread house with boy & girl; Tree with gold beads; Santa standing; Santa face; Rudolph standing; Rudolph face. Each kit includes supplies for two (2) ornaments, gingerbread has three (3) ornaments.  Cost: Purchase of one Christmas Ornament Needle Felting Kit $20, includes workshop. (Must be pre-ordered)
